Hello! My name is April Delphia and I am from Essex Junction. I graduated from Essex High School. I then went to school in Florida for a year before transferring back to UVM to finish my degree in Elementary Education. I student taught in Burlington in a kindergarten classroom. I then worked for two years at Berkshire Elementary School in second and fourth grade. I then spent a year as a long term substitute in a fifth grade and two third grade classrooms. This led me to Smilie where I taught first grade last year. I am so excited to be back in first and second grade this year!
In July, I married my best friend in Lake George, New York. We live in Richmond. We love to go biking, hiking, swimming, snowboarding, and play tennis! I also enjoy anything crafty like baking and decorating cakes, scrapbooking, quilting, and painting.
I feel so lucky to be here with your first and second graders. We are going to have such a fantastic year!
I am originally from Canton, CT, but traveled to the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont almost every weekend of my childhood for outdoor adventures at our grandparents' camp. When it came time for college, I knew Vermont was the place for me! I attended St. Michael's College with a degree in Elementary Education and Psychology, and Vermont has been home ever since.
I have had the opportunity to teach in many schools under many different roles, always learning so much along the way. I taught preschool at Poker Hill School, Kindergarten at Underhill I.D., Kindergarten at Cambridge Elementary School, and taught third grade for the past four years also at Cambridge Elementary School. I am SO honored to join the Smilie Community, and am looking forward to my "forever" job!
I live in Richmond with my husband, Matt, our one year old son, Anson, and our thirteen year old black lab, Kala. We love to ski, hike, rock climb, garden, listen to music, spend time with family, and soak up as much sunshine as we can!
